  1. It was mentioned earlier that the pickup scene tends to focus heavily on certain “styles” of Game, namely the jerk/asshole. There’s a very good reason for this –
  2.
  3. because it works.
  4.
  5. With all due respect to the ladies here, the Jane Austen stuff works very well for storytelling, in the main. Out on the bricks though, what the PUAs assert, is more often than not, the case. You can deny it all you like, but one thing about Game that seperates it from most of what Women know or think they know, is that it is based on realtime interaction. Theories and wishful thinking simply have no place in that schema.
  6.
  7. Jerks get chicks, that’s just a simple fact of life. Women in particular, need to fess up about this.

  12. “does this include competent scientists, engineers and computer programmers? They do important work, some of which is fascinating even to non-experts, and are typically very competent at what they do. But, if you find competent nerds appealing, then I’m afraid you are in a very small — though lucky! — minority of women.”

  14. My husband is in grad school for mathematics and programs. I also do a bit of coding, so I have more respect for what programmers do. I find his kind of competence very appealing. In fact I much prefer it to success in certain areas — politicians and business men are a general turn-off, and I don’t care for celebrity men either.

  16. As to the Anonymous post above about debt, I agree. I became debt-free not long after I graduated from university and have saved up enough by myself for a house down payment. My husband also doesn’t have any debts, and he goes to grad school for free while getting a stipend for TAing. Marriage might not be an entirely economic system, but that is a component of it. People, men and women, should have their eyes open when entering into a marital contract, and choose the one who will best complement themselves.

  19. @Obsidian,
  20. Despite being a sometime fan of your blog and posts, I disagree with this statement:
  21. “With all due respect to the ladies here, the Jane Austen stuff works very well for storytelling, in the main. Out on the bricks though, what the PUAs assert, is more often than not, the case.
